Catalyst

Happy Friday! It's been a full and productive week for me. Lots of exciting things happening. One of which, is a city-wide retreat coming up for young men. I've been a small part of the planning for this event, and we are all excited about the potential. Thus far, all of the pieces for such a ministry have just fallen into place--leaving us no choice but to recognize God's work! Being 20-something is an interesting time in life. Transition...in between. I believe one of the biggest temptations facing people my age is the temptation to coast and miss out on what God's purposes are for RIGHT NOW. I feel a sermon coming on, but I'll spare you...

So this event will be for young men to not miss out on what God has in store. Lynn Anderson is our speaker. I'll let you know more about it as it gets closer. Be sure to see the brochure below and the funny picture, too.

Vacation

Two weeks ago, my family took a vacation to Las Vegas. My parents and sister came to Memphis to see me, and then we all flew together to Nevada. It was a really wonderful time of "getting away" and enjoying each other's company again. I had never been to Vegas, but I really enjoyed it. The Hotel Resorts on the strip will just blow your mind. They're enormous and they're ridiculously elaborate. But we sure had fun looking around, shopping, eating, and going to a couple shows.

Some people here at Highland Street joked with me that they were hoping to see our Weekly Contribution numbers way up after I returned! I only played small amounts of money a couple times on the slots. And indeed, if I had won anything I would have certainly contributed. But alas, no such luck. In fact, I was carded by security personel to make sure I was 21!

My favorite part was undoubtedly the fountains of Bellagio. They played very tasty music and the fountains were coordinated with the music. I loved it. A great vacation spot that I hope to revisit someday. I've posted three pictures below. Anyone else have a Vegas story?

Quick Update

It's been too long. I've been scrambling lately because I've been out of the office for three of the last seven weeks. Yikes. One of those weeks was a fantastic vacation with my family (which I'll write more about). And another of those weeks is right now as I find myself in the middle of my first short course at the Harding Graduate School of Religion. Over the last year, I had gotten used to not being in class! But this week is going well. I will expand on these things and share other news soon. Please check back!
