Really, will this ever end?

Three more days of class and a final.
Three more days of class and a final.
Three more days of class and a final.

So I'm in Michael's yesterday looking for a picture frame for one of my Porsche posters (oh yes--it turned out great). Except I had an idiot moment as I shopped. I noticed some picture frames on the top shelf. "I'm a tall guy," I thought, "I can reach those." And indeed, I could. But I couldn't see what might be on top of them. So, I carefully lifted the top frame straight up and tried to judge by the weight if there was something else on top of it that I couldn't see. I judged wrong. As I pulled it down there was another frame on top that hit me right on the head and then crashed to the floor and broke (taking a few other items down with it).

Fortunately, they didn't make me pay for it (even though I offered). But there was about a minute (which seemed like an eternity) of standing in all of my shame amidst the carnage. A little girl peeked around the corner to see the clown who made all the noise. I just glared at her and made a face as if to say, "Yep! I did it!"

Another lesson in humility.

What just came out of my mouth?!

Today in Bible class we were discussing in small groups about our bodies--what they mean to us, what they mean to God, whether or not they're important--ya know, we were breaking the ice and getting our brains going.

Well, as I began sharing my feelings about our bodies in light of the creation story, I was trying to bring extra emphasis to the point that women are the "crown of creation."

And I said, "Woman is the 'kaboom' of creation."

Oh dear.  I think I'll hear about that one for a long time!

Answered Prayers

I haven't been updating my blog much because there really isn't much to update!  What can I say?  Only eight more class periods before I graduate.  I can hardly wait.  Fortunately--my class isn't difficult--it's just a matter of going through the motions.  But you can imagine how sick and tired I am of going through the motions!

I finished packing everything at my parents' house.  Now I just need to start on my apartment.  I'm making good progress with the church staff/elders in Memphis to get my office set up.  It's going to be so great!

Finally: an answer to prayers.  When I lead worship at a church, I will pray with the praise team before the service (usually a good idea).  One thing I often pray, is that God will protect all of our brothers and sisters who are on their way to the church building (this prayer usually occurs fifteen or twenty minutes before the service).  This morning, the Lord heard my prayer and answered it.  My SISTER was in a minor traffic accident.  She was riding to church with one of her friends.  They are okay (the car is not), but it's still pretty scary.  Those things can happen so fast.

Father, thanks for hearing us when we pray.  And thank you for keeping Kami and Leslie safe this morning.

Back from the dead!

Whew!  Trip to Memphis, trip to Denver, starting my LAST college class, and leading for Kadesh.  This is ridiculous!

I had a great weekend in Denver.  I was able to visit with friends from two summers ago, and I had the opportunity to lead worship there on Sunday.  What a blessing!  I can feel the Spirit at Lakewood more than anywhere else.  If you're ever in Denver, Colorado, go to Lakewood Church of Christ.

I have now finished two weeks of my last college class.  Only 12 more class periods to go.  Who's counting?  I am!

I will leave Abilene one month from yesterday.  Hello!  Packing begins today.  Exciting stuff.  Kadesh has been great this week.  Here's one thought from Kadesh as we have focused on Grace:

"He chose the cross--counting on you to choose Him."
